In the heart of the village of Saint Dionisy, this former barn, dating back to 1800, has been transformed from its original purpose into a 219sqm living space that prioritizes space and tranquility. Upon entering, the living room reveals a cathedral ceiling soaring to 7.50 meters. The central skylight brings in light and highlights the stone walls and original Tuscan arches. It's a spacious and airy room, whose light and acoustics make it ideal for a workshop, a living-dining room, or even a grand piano. A large bay window blurs the boundary with a secluded patio where a 3.9 x 2.7 m Roman basin provides a private oasis of coolness on summer days. A reading nook and an office offer more intimate retreats without partitioning the space, creating an 88sqm living area. The fully equipped kitchen is a welcoming space centered around a marble bar. The room retains the memory of the place by repurposing the old mangers as a table with a custom-made glass and metal top. The spiral staircase, a true creation in wood and stainless steel, leads to the sleeping area. A gallery provides access to three bedrooms, including an exceptional master suite with a shower room and a 20 sqm west-facing rooftop terrace, a veritable solarium nestled between the rooftops for enjoying the sun in complete privacy. A bathroom and a separate WC complete this floor. Furthermore, this house features reversible air conditioning and underfloor heating in the living room, powered by a gas boiler. A pantry and a laundry room behind the kitchen, as well as a WC on the ground floor, make daily life easier. A paved courtyard enclosed by a wrought-iron gate provides parking for up to two vehicles. The ideal location, just steps from shops, the greenway, and the garrigue trails, makes it an exceptional place to live. A unique renovation to discover. A 400-m² stately dwelling and its garden, 20 minutes north of Béziers in the centre of a village in the Hérault department. With approximately 400 m², the four-storey house, facing southeast, was built in the third quarter of the 19th century. Accessible via two separate entrances located on either side of the house, the front gate opens onto the house’s garden level from the street, where a staircase ascends to the patio and front door, while, the second entrance, giving onto a small back street behind the house, which winds its way around the village bell tower, provides direct access to the ground floor. As for the dwelling’s main façade, adorned in climbing, flowering plants, it is cadenced by four rectilinear windows and five sets of glass doors safeguarded by wooden shutters, which provide ample sunlight for its interior. In addition, a stone niche framed by pilasters and topped with an entablature contains a statue of Saint Joseph on the house’s top floor, whereas a set of glass doors and ten windows punctuate the house’s rear exterior. Coated in understated brown plaster, the house’s only decorative elements are its moulded window/door surrounds, windowsills and entablatures as well as a keystone above the front door, while its barrel tile gable roof is highlighted on either side by a cornice. Lastly, the house also comes with a garage, accessible from the main street and topped by a patio, which stands next to the former stables and outbuildings, today converted into a secluded, and partly covered, enclosed garden.

A wine-grower’s house from the 19th century, in the Vaunage plain to the south of Nîmes. The property, which is a short walk from the village centre, boasts a long stone wall at its southernmost reaches, at the centre of which stands a gentle green coloured metal gate framed by two imposing limestone pillars. Behind this wall lies a dense screen of vegetation, made up of Mediterranean trees and shrubs, that partially hides an impressive wine-grower’s house situated in the middle of a 2,500-m² plot of land. The two-storey, rectangular building possesses an outbuilding, divided into two parts, to the east. The first part, which borders the street to the south, still houses old wine vats. The second part, adjacent to the northern wall, remains in an untouched condition. The building’s façades are not uniform and mix sections made of exposed light-yellow stone with parts built with rubble stone rendered with limewash or cement. The window and door openings are rectangular and some of the frames are made of ashlar. The recently renovated roof is made of half-round tiles. The main building has a gable roof while the outbuilding has a single sloped roof. Both have a double or triple Génoise corbel. Lastly, the western part of the property is occupied by a garden that is fully enclosed by remarkably well-preserved stone walls. It plays host to a well and a stone outbuilding that has been converted into an outdoor dining area. The lush and diverse greenery provides an oasis of cool, which is especially well appreciated during the summer.

A traditional 19th century Gard farmhouse and vast farm outbuildings, 20 minutes from Nîmes . On the north-east side of a rectangular plot of more than 3 000 m², enclosed by stone walls and fences, there stands a vast old building with a strong rural character. The buildings are laid out in a U-shape, closed on three sides, typical of traditional southern farmhouses. This architectural arrangement, designed to provide protection from the prevailing winds and offer a private, yet functional space, is reminiscent of the farmhouses that once dotted the Gard countryside. The property is entered from the west via a wide carriage entrance flanked by former stone stables. The entrance marks the threshold to a quiet, enclosed world, far removed from any hustle and bustle. Behind the discreet entrance there is a vast, light-filled central courtyard, bordered by the three wings of the house. The walls, made of local stone and rubble with a patina finish, reveal the building's age – probably before the 19th century. Most of the windows are straight; some of them are wide and high, with pointed or basket-handle arches on the garden level. They are surrounded with ashlar. The roofs are covered with canal tiles on double-sloped wooden frames and bordered by a double cornice. They feature recesses that testify to the successive extensions and changes to the building complex over the generations. The courtyard, enhanced by the recent addition of a swimming pool, highlights the former productive function of the site while showing its transformation into an elegant living space. In the wings, which were once attics or agricultural outbuildings, a few windows let in light and mean that they can be used for other purposes. Facing due south, the main building, which captures the warmth and light of the Mediterranean, provides wide views over the interior of the property through its many windows.

A former silk spinning mill with its manor house and 31-hectare grounds, in the south of the Cévennes National Park, within the Gard department. A private lane lined with tall, bicentenary plane trees, ascends towards the property, nestled within lush vegetation. Accessible via a gate, which opens on to a group of three buildings, an immense ornamental pond welcomes visitors to this property, perched on a hillside and scattered with natural springs, ponds and fountains. At the property’s entrance stands the caretaker’s cottage, while, a little further off, the 19th-century manor house was built over the vestiges of the medieval chateau of Toumeyrolles. Last, but not least, a massive building constructed over a basement level, which was once a silk spinning mill, is set back from the other buildings, ensconced within its verdant setting and waiting to be returned to its former lustre once again.

The property includes a series of buildings that form a U shape around a courtyard. There is a house with a 183m² floor area, an annexe, a wine storehouse, an agricultural storage building, a garage and several buildings that stand among the vines and need to be restored. You reach the property via a little bridge across a stream and then through a wrought-iron gate that leads into a rectangular court. The plain main building in the heart of the village has a ground floor, a first floor and a second floor. Redesigned over successive periods, the house has been recognised as part of a winegrowing estate since 2015 when its current owner bought the place. Behind the house, a double garden covers 290m² and extends alongside the stream. The estate’s vineyard and moors are spread over two villages in the immediate surroundings. Many outbuildings, some in ruins, dot the vineyard. Some serve as storehouses or shelters. The vineyard is surrounded by lush scrubland with chestnuts, hazelnuts, strawberry trees and holm oaks. You can see the Caroux mountains to the north in the distance. Small fauna can be found here to, even in the estate’s name – an Occitan word meaning a certain little bird with a superb crest and a beautiful song. The current owner has redesigned and modernised the estate. He oversaw some work, such as the creation of the wine storehouse and the partial renovation of the main dwelling, which dates back to the late 19th century. He also overhauled the way the vineyard was run to produce its wines. Biodiversity is a subject that the current owner takes seriously. The winegrowers on the estate work with respect for natural cycles and follow the principles of organic farming.

A well-preserved, approximately 600-m² elegant manor house with an enclosed garden and outbuildings, in the Minervois sector, in the southwest of the Hérault area. The property can be found in urban environment and is made up of several buildings erected during the third quarter of the 19th century, by a family who made a significant fortune in vinegrowing, like other vineyard owners in the Minervois sector and near Béziers. The property is made up of a manor house, a perpendicular extension, a former superintendent’s lodgings and a hen coop, bordered by the garden to the east. The three-storey manor house is topped by a long-sloped and wide gabled roof made of half-round tiles. The frieze underlining the denticulated cornice on the facade overlooking the street is inspired by ancient rose-shaped bas-reliefs. This ashlar-built, west-facing elevation is perfectly symmetrical, with five vertical rows of openings arranged in an opulent neo-classical architectural style. On the contrary, the facade overlooking the garden is characterised by its stringent sobriety. The entrance door from the street, in the centre of the facade, is topped by a stone balcony. Its guard-rail made of balusters is echoed on the four windows either side of it on the first floor. The windows on the ground floor are fitted with metal louvred shutters, while the ones on the upper floors are fitted with wooden slatted blinds. The 20th-century extension is made up of a rectangular building on the garden side of the house. It includes a basement and a ground-floor topped by a roof terrace. Light streams into it through three windows and a French window, fitted with sash shutters. A circular pond can be found in the reasonably sized garden lying to the east of the manor house. A zinc-roofed aedicula previously housed an outside lavatory. Lastly, the former superintendent's lodgings located at the bottom of the garden is today a two-storey guests’ house, standing next to a wooden gate opening out onto a narrow street to the rear of the property.

A renovated former silkworm farm, its wooded grounds and covered swimming pool, within the Cévennes National Park, in the south of the Lozère department. Just a couple of steps away from Florac’s downtown area and sheltered from view, the property, protected by a stone wall, extends over wooded grounds and is accessible via a gate, communicating with one of the village’s secondary roads, which leads to two buildings: the former silk farm and now the main dwelling, as well as an outbuilding that has been converted into a workshop. Between the two, a patio shaded by a trellis is an invitation to eat meals outside on nice days, whereas, further on and hidden behind the property’s first rows of trees, is a wooden chalet as well as a covered and heated swimming pool. In addition, at one end of the grounds, a second outbuilding was converted to accommodate visitors, while the property’s wide variety of trees and the breadth of its verdant foliage create, when strolling through the grounds, a succession of breath-taking and peaceful landscapes. Lastly, a second gate, located in the back of the property, makes it possible to park several vehicles without creating an eyesore for the dwelling’s inhabitants.
